There’s a quick, easy way to escape the bustling city in Central and discover a quiet nook to recharge, have a quick lunch or just rest your feet – all you’ve got to do is head ifc’s podium roof garden on P4
Up here, away from the blaring traffic horns, the air is breezier, the crowds are thinner and the views are that much more spectacular. Yes, the podium roof garden at ifc has long been a not-so-secret hidden gem. FFEveryone knows exactly where to go, but not everyone knows it’s completely open to the public – whether or not you’re dining at any of the fine establishments there.
Gaze outwards upon Victoria Harbour or simply enjoy your time around the carefully groomed garden. Apart from the lush greenery and the fountain, the rooftop features strong architecture design codes, from the rigid overhead bars that form a shaded respite from the sun to the modern glass houses that shelter the numerous restaurants. And have you ever wondered about the giant multicoloured glass blocks that dot the garden? Called The Flux, the four-piece installation was created by South Korean artist Ahn Pil-yun in 2004.
Day or night, get yourself to the roof – and remind yourself that the future is looking up.
